During your time at Indiana Tech, I will encourage you to use the gifts, strengths, and resources within to live purposefully and to grow beyond what you think is possible. I love getting to know my first-year students and believe that that they possess the natural talents to be whole. I am originally from upstate New York and have now been in Fort Wayne for several years. I earned my master’s degree in Student Development Counseling and Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.  I am also a certified Life Coach and am currently pursuing a PhD in Global Leadership. When I have free time, I love to explore the outdoors, and spend time with family and friends.

I am originally from Indiana and received my bachelor’s from Purdue University Fort Wayne and my master’s from the University of Tennessee. In my role, I work primarily with first-year students, 21st Century Scholars, and students who are placed on academic probation. I advise and encourage students in making the best possible transition to Indiana Tech by helping them discover and utilize their strengths and resources to achieve their goals. I believe that students should always feel that they have someone to talk to, but should increasingly grow in their self-responsibility, development, and confidence to handle situations on their own. Outside of work, I enjoy watching and playing sports, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends.

I am an Indiana native who graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2015 with a B.S. in Secondary English Education. I was named the Class Representative and delivered the student address during commencement. After graduating, I taught in Plock, Poland, before entering an M.A. program and teaching at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. In May 2017, I completed my graduate degree and started working as an Academic Coach at Indiana Tech the following October. I have a passion for serving students and have worked as an advisor, instructor, and leader at the post-secondary for over five years. I believe that all students possess talents that have to be cultivated, so I aim to provide a secure place for them to express their goals and set-up strategic plans to accomplish them in a timely manner; the best part of working in higher education is watching students blossom into transformative intellectuals and professionals. In my free time, I am enjoying beautiful Caribbean beaches and culture or building bonds with my baby brother and sister, Zion and James.

My advising truths I aspire to live by are being honest and genuine. I would not ever tell a student something I would not do myself. I strive to live a balanced life and I encourage my students too, also. I look forward to connecting with you.

I will be here as a source of encouragement and support during your first year. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Indiana Tech while working full time and raising a family of three girls, so I am proof that you can do it!  Indiana Tech will provide you with the tools and support you will need to be successful.  My philosophy on student success is that it is all about effort.  Effort equals success. College is not easy, because easy does not change you. I would encourage you to see yourself reaching the goals you set, regardless of the challenges you may encounter along the way. I find great joy in connecting with students, and I care about your academic success. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can ever assist you. I am excited to meet you!

As a retention specialist, I am working with students who have stopped going to school. Getting them back in to class is not as simple as just registering them. There are hurdles these students face; whether it be self-doubt, life circumstances, or financial struggles. My role is to offer whatever support they need to be confident, self-reliant, and focused again. I focus on their goals, help them formulate their academic plan, and help them envision the finish line that is graduation. Overall, my advising philosophy is guiding students toward realizing their potential and finishing their degrees.
